Evangelical books in Ukrainian
Since this issue focuses entirely on the ongoing situation in Ukraine and given that almost all of our contributors have shared, cited, or recommended resources for those in active ministry there, I asked my colleague, Charles Warner, to put together a reading list. He compiled a selection of books available in Ukrainian that cover cross-cultural mission work and missionary pastoral care (often referred to as member care). While this list isn't exhaustive, it highlights several essential titles for anyone working within the Ukrainian evangelical community. We want to extend a huge thank you to Charles for gathering this information.
Please note that titles 1 through 6 are listed in English, but all of these resources have been translated and are fully available in Ukrainian. I’d like to highlight Ukrainian author Olga Gabel, who wrote her book, How to Care for Missionaries, directly in her native language. At the moment, it isn't available in English.
Additionally, titles 7 through 10 are currently being translated and are scheduled for print by the end of 2026. Even though some of these titles are older and might seem a bit dated to a Western reader, they remain deeply inspiring and necessary for someone who only reads Ukrainian - at least, that is the perspective of the dedicated team currently working to make them available.
An important detail to keep in mind is that these resources can be sourced directly within Ukraine. You can find all the necessary contact details at the end of the list.
